Own Your Brand Online

What is branding? Or, better yet, do you need to be concerned with it?

Your brand is basically what people know you by. If you are a coach, your online brand is how people will find you online.

Whether it's your own name, the name of your coaching program, your "secret sauce" title, or anything else that describes what you do; your brand is important. Your brand, if properly utilized can put your coaching practice over the top.

I was recently on a call with Bart Baggett's Marketing Mastermind, and his special guest was Michelle Villalobos. Michelle has a coaching practice that cannot be described in just one word or phrase. She teaches professional speaking, branding, how to have great headshots, and several other categories that can help you rise to the top of the stack in your niche.

Right now, she is offering her report on owning your online brand. Her site for this is called Googleicious. (http://googleicious.me/) This is an excellent report that gives you a 4 week plan that can revolutionize your online brand.

Her report gives you the foundation that starts off with the right steps and carries you through the process. She starts by showing you how to establish your baseline. Then, how to get the best headshot. Michelle also gives very important tips on how to build your email list and find your tribe. She closes with the long term strategy that helps you carry on the momentum that your have built over the last 3 weeks.

This is one of the best free coaching resources that we have been privy to this year. Make sure to download this report and utilize the steps to become the coach that you are meant to be.

Download this free report here

Also, we will be unveiling some major news at 100 Coaching Tips very soon.

If you have not already downloaded the free coaching tools and resources yet, please do so.

You can do that by filling out the optin at the top right of this page, or go to www.100CoachingTips.com

This year is fast coming to an end. Let's make it a great year.

Are they even opening your emails?

Hello fellow coaches,

Sometimes the gates of coaching heaven open up and drop wonderful free coaching resources for me to share with you. Today is one of those days.

Email marketing, or even sending individual emails is a vital part of any successful coaching practice. But just as important as sending the emails is making sure the recipients are opening them.

Most autoresponders have a built in tracking tool that lets you see who opens your email broadcasts. But, your individual emails typically do not have this feature.

The nice people at HubSpot have changed that. Their newest service Get Signals provides your own email whether it's Gmail, Yahoo, or any other email service to track the open rates on individual emails. They even have a free option for one single email address with up to 200 notifications per month. They also provide an unlimited version for only $10 a month.

Click here to check it out

This can be a game changer for your coaching practice. No more wondering if your emails are read or not. You can actually see who is opening them, and either resend to the non-openers, or take them off your prospect list completely. This will take the guess work out of who is a hot prospect and who is a "tire kicker" that only wants to waste your time.

Take the time to look it over and see if it can be of help to building the successful coaching practice that you want and deserve.

Sincerely yours,

A new way of writing your to do list

Hello fellow coaches,

It looks like 6 more weeks of winter thanks to the groundhog. We will see. Sometimes when writing you about free coaching resources and tools, I come across a very interesting idea that is not even set up to become an evergreen business.

What I mean by this is, most free coaching tools and resources are meant to be a sales funnel builder that lets you get some free things and then if you like it, you buy more. I have come to expect this over the years. And, I will be the first to say that there is nothing wrong with the free items upfront to build a good relationship with someone that finds your website. But what I will share with you today is a free resource that has no backend "upsell" or free trial subscription. It is simply an idea that can be used to make your time more productive.

For many years now, I have gone from a "things to do" list and a journal, and swapped back and forth. As of this writing, I am using a daily gratitude journal, goal list for this year (broken down by months), a Sunday list (weekly to do list), a daily to do list, and a journal. Five different lists and journals that I refer to daily.

It is difficult to keep up with sometimes. Our lives keep getting busier, and it seems that time is moving faster. Is there a way to integrate these lists all together? Or, at least combine a few for simplicity sake?

Ryder Carroll, of New York City, has developed the Bullet Journal. It's his version of a to do list in a simple monthly and daily breakdown. He has refined this system over the last few years, and he is still improving it. What's even better, he created a website that shows how to use the bullet journal with videos, and it's absolutely free. He doesn't even sell journals! He recommends a few, but you have to go to the site of the manufacturer to find places to buy. It's incredible that someone takes this much care to create a system, and then share it with the world for free.

You can find this site here: http://www.bulletjournal.com/. Again, there is nothing to sign up for. No give me your contact info to see my free stuff. Just his idea with corresponding information to support it.

I have started implementing this in my daily to do lists and my Sunday list. I prefer to keep my gratitude journal and my other journals separate from this system. My lists are about productivity and my journals are about what I am experiencing. However, it is good to have a bullet journal to refer back to when journaling about a past event.

Give it a try and see if it helps you become more productive, or better yet, helps your clients.

Wishing you More Clients, More Money, and More Life!

Free Webinar on Building Your Practice Through Blogging

Hello Fellow Coaches,

At Free Coaching Resources, we are committed to bringing you the latest and best coaching tools and resources that are free. A brand new year has started. You can make this, 2014, your break out year.

One of the things my clients ask me is, "How do I get new prospects when there thousands of coaches already out there?" Or, "What can I do to stand out?" And, "Should I have a blog?"

This is almost always followed up with, "Well, I tried blogging once , and it didn't work." Can you see the problem with that last statement?

As with anything you do in business, and I said business, because your coaching practice is your business, you must have a plan, or a system. And, just like any plan or system, you have trial and error along the way. You have to see what works, and stick with what works. It's not a set it and forget it, but it is a set it and adjust it as needed.

Despite all of the hoopla about blogging, it is the best way to get the low hanging fruit. It is a way to get prospects organically (meaning you are not paying for the traffic.) If you are just starting out, or maybe in a cash slump and need a jump start, blogging may be the one thing that gets you back on track.

Once you are established, it is one of the best ways to keep your presence out there. Whether you are blogging once a week, daily, or anywhere in between, blogging is one tool that you want in your client prospecting toolbox.

But, you may ask, "Why didn't blogging work for me?" There are several reasons for this, but the most common reason I find is this:

The #1 reason people start a blog is that some "expert" said they needed one.
So they...
1. Pick a topic
2. Start a blog
3. Expect traffic to show up

When this doesn't work, coaches quit blogging in frustration. They either go on to the next "silver bullet" or "bright shiny object" to try to generate cash to justify their existence as a coach.

Let me stop for just a minute here, and say: blogging is not the only thing you will need to create and maintain a successful coaching practice.  But, it is one of the things you will have to have in your tool box.

If you have a blog, it will be the one thing people will probably look at before making a decision about going any further in investigating whether or not they want to hire you for coaching. And, remember, they are not hiring a coach, they are buying a solution to their problems.

There is a company out there that specializes in teaching business owners ( remember what I said above coaches) about blogging. Learn to Blog breaks the steps down in bite sized pieces so you are not overwhelmed with insignificant details.

Better yet, they are offering a free webinar on "6 Figure Blog Secrets"  It is tomorrow, and that's short notice, but this is definitely worth your time to attend.

Do you have a website? Here's how you can

Hello fellow coaches,

It's been a while since we have posted. We have not forgetten you. We have been working on a huge coaching project that we will release in 2014. The time taken to work on this project has taken me away temporarily from Free Coaching Resources.

That said, in the here and now.... Do you have a website for your coaching business? We have written in several past blogs about the importance of having your own website. You wouldn't start a business without a phone, or marketing materials, so why do so many coaches not have their own website?

The answer we get so many times is that it is just too confusing. We have taken that part out of the equation and want to tell you about 4 Kindle books that you can get for free, right now.

Even if you are a total beginner, you can create a website. Yes, even a Wordpress website.

The first book I want to tell you about is by Steve Scott. I own several of Steve Scott's ebooks on Kindle, and I can tell you that his information is great. He covers the necessary things that need to be done. "How to Start a Successful Blog in 1 Hour" is an excellent resource for you arsenal. You can literally read this book and follow the steps and have a Wordpress site up and running and start blogging.

Click here for this free Kindle ebook

Another great Kindle ebook for starting your Wordpress website is "How to Create a Wordpress Website" by Brian Patrick. He also includes access to over 40 Wordpress video tutorials. If you like a more visual method of learning, this book can really help you to overcome your barriers to starting your own Wordpress website.

Click here for Brian's Kindle ebook

If you are looking for a more compreensive starter guide to Wordpress, Lisa Thompson's "Wordpress Tutorial Guide" might be more for you. She talks about more than just installing a Wordpress site. She also talks of Plugins, Widgets, Themes, and even CSS. Even if you have never heard of these things, they are explained in this work.

Click here for this tutorial Kindle ebook

If you are a little more advanced in the journey, I have found a free coaching resource that is an excellent tutorial guide. JavaScript and HTML5 by Kyle Simpson can help you to either develop a more advanced website, or help you if you are choosing a website designer. This book is written a little more implicitly than the previous books I have mentioned, but if you are wanting to expand your horizons in designing a website, it can be very helpful.

Click here for this advanced Kindle ebook

There are other books on designing a Wordpress website, and some of these books may resonate well with some readers, others may want something different. Remember, we have more than 1 ice cream flavor for a reason. Everybody likes different things. Check these works out and see if any click with you.

Also, you do not have to own a Kindle to read these. You can download a free Kindle app to read Kindle books on a PC, Mac, or tablet. There are even free apps to read Kindle books on some smart phones. If you are reading this blog, I am sure you can find a Kindle app to read Kindle books.

If you have not already signed up for over $1700 in free coaching tools and resources, you can do so by filling out the form at the top left of this blog. Or, you can go directly to www.100coachingtips.com and sign up there. These resources are there to help you build a successful and thriving coaching practice.

We at 100 Coaching Tips wish you More Clients, More Money, and More Life!

Free Webinar: Start Your Own Coaching Website

Greetings Fellow Coaches,

At Free Coaching Resources we strive to bring to your attention the latest and best free coaching tools & resources.

We are having a live webinar for our members and readers on September 26 at 6pm PDT (California time).

We surveyed the audience of our last webinar and realized that many coaches do not have their own website. There are many reasons that were given to us as to why.

Reasons such as:

* It's too confusing

* It's too expensive

* I cannot write code

* I have no idea where to start

* Every guru is telling me something different

* I don't have hundreds of hours to learn this stuff

I know first hand that it can be somewhat confusing to start your own coaching website. Many have sat through other calls and been told by the guru that they have to buy the guru's package to build their own website.

I have also heard several gurus say, "You don't have to have your own website." But, you know what? Every one of those gurus has their own website. In today's market, you need to have your own website, and it's not as confusing or overwhelming as you might think.

This webinar will be different, in that, if you watch the webinar, and take notes, you will have the basic knowledge to start your own website. That's right, I will pull back the curtain and show you the tricks of the trade that I either learned the hard way, or paid money to learn. After this webinar, there will not be any reason that you cannot have your own website.

In this webinar you will learn:

* Where to buy your domain names

* How many domain names do you actually need

* What is a good hosting company?

* What is Wordpress, and how do you use it

* Which template is best

* How much will this actually cost to do

* How can my website be found by the search engines

* Free webdesign tools on the internet that everyone can use

* Do you need a shopping cart service

* Where can you find a free shopping cart service

* What you actually need to start

If you have been hesitant about starting your own coaching website, watch this webinar. I will explain from start to finish how to create your own website. I will have actual screenshots that will show you how easy it is, and I will even tell you what prices are fair to pay to get a website up and running.

And best of all, one lucky person on this webinar will win a free Coaching Website Makeover. What if you don't have your own website yet? I will give you the basic format that you can use to build your own coaching website.

I will also answer any questions you may have about starting your own website. The time is now to take control of your coaching practice and put it on the map. And the time has never been better for you to do so.

You can access this live webinar at: http://instantteleseminar.com/?eventID=46238691

The PDF for this event will be available the day of the webinar. You will be able to access the PDF download here.

We hope to see you on the webinar.

Also, if you have not received your free coaching resources from our website www.100coachingtips.com, you can get them now by filling out the optin form at the top left of this blog. Over $1700 in free coaching tools & resources that you can use to begin transforming your coaching practice.

Free Kindle E-book: Magic of Impromptu Speaking

Hello fellow coaches,

Welcome back to Free Coaching Resources. It was a wild time during and after the live webinar we did last week. I am finally getting back to whatever normal is. If you missed our live webinar, the replay is still up, but the special offer has expired.

Today's free resource comes to us by way of Amazon Kindle, and is a very valuable resource for coaches to have. Impromptu speaking is a priceless tool to build your coaching practice. Maybe when you decided to become a life coach, you did not think that public speaking would be a necessary skill set. But, it is the most valuable "secret weapon" to building a thriving coaching practice.

Kindle author Andrii Sedniev covers the basics plus the finer points of impromptu speaking in his book "Magic of Impromptu Speaking: Create a Speech That Will Be Remembered for Years in Under 30 Seconds."

Click here for this amazing ebook

What if you are asked to fill in for a late or no show speaker at an event? Would you be prepared? This is the opportunity of a lifetime if you can give an impromptu speech that is convincing to the audience. Or, it can be a career buster, if you blow the opportunity.

Andrii's book can help you master the art of impromptu speaking. Whether it is a small group or a conference speech, being able to handle a task like this will separate you from the coaches who cannot.

If you are in Toastmasters, you are probably familiar with Table Topics. Table Topics is a short impromptu speaking exercise that Toastmasters practice to be able to answer questions off the cuff, without preparations.

But, unlike Table Topics, Andrii's book goes many steps further to explain how to incorporate valuable tips into your impromptu speaking. He covers many different situations and how to handle them. He also gives practice exercises to make sure you are comfortable with doing it.

Although I've been a member of Toastmasters for 3 years now, I did learn several new things about impromptu speaking in this book.

Don't wait too long to get this free Kindle ebook. It is on a temporary free basis, meaning that in a few days it will go back to regular price.

Labor Day Weekend is almost upon us here in the US. Please have a safe and happy holiday weekend.

As always, we wish you More Clients, More Money, and More Life!

Respectfully yours,

Steve Davis

Free e-book: Pinterest- Fun & Profit

Hello fellow coaches,

Sometimes the very thing I'm looking for falls into my lap, and even better, I can share it in this blog. That's what happened with today's Free Coaching Resource. I had put learning Pinterest on my to do list some time ago, but it was moved to the back burner. I had read one book on it, but it was entirely from a user perspective and not a business one. My teenage daughters use Pinterest, but purely from the standpoint of posting and sharing funny pictures. I was beginning to think that Pinterest is only for people to share recipes, pictures, and funny stories. There's nothing wrong with that, but if that were the case, I'd have no desire to join Pinterest.

Today on Book Gorilla, Lambert Klein's book "Pinterest For Beginners: Fun & Profit" was on the free Kindle book list. This is an excellent resource for learning Pinterest, and also finding out if it can benefit your coaching practice. I was surprised by some of the stats in this book:

  • 68.2% of Pinterest users are women (some sources say 87%)
  • 97% of Facebook fans of Pinterest are women
  • 28.1% of users on Pinterest have an annual household income of over $100,000 USD
  • 50% of Pinterest users have children

Now this is beginning to look appealing to me. Perhaps even another potential lead source. As I continued reading, there were even more interesting statistics, by way of age demographics:

  • ages 12-17         4.1%
  • ages 18-24        17.3%
  • ages 25-34        27.4%
  • ages 35-44        22.1%
  • ages 45-54        17.9%

Now the demographics are coming into sharper focus. This is definitely a viable social media network. But, how do you tap it? Fortunately, the author has an entire chapter of Marketing on Pinterest. Also, he does not sugar coat the statistics. Even though this is an incredibly qualified potential lead source, you cannot just go out like a spammer and see any lasting results.

According to Lambert, you have to recommend and suggest. That is even more effective if it is being done from a 3rd person party. Spammers will not do any good in the Pinterest universe. So, I had to ditch the idea of just running out and promoting every product and affiliate product I coud think of. Drats, spoiled again. Lol.

The most effective way to use Pinterest from a business standpoint is to utilize it to drive traffic to your blog. Other ways are: non-profits, freelancers, and authors promoting books. This narrows it down somewhat, but I think it still could be a benefit to life coaches.

The author even gives links to learn the more advanced Pinterest strategies.

Click here for this free coaching resource

Let me know if you are currently using Pinterest, and what kind of results you are getting. I have seen some coaches on Pinterest, both business coaches and life coaches.

Also, don't forget to download your free coaching resources from our site: www.100coachingtips.com. You can sign up at the site, or use the optin form at the top left of this blog.

If you wish to contact me, feel free to do so: steve@100coachingtips.com. I always enjoy talking with our blog readers.

Until next time, 100 Coaching Tips wishes you: More Clients, More Money, and More Life!

Free tool that lets you do screen shots and screen videos

It's been a while since I have posted on Free Coaching Resources. We had to upgrade some IT procedures on our website as well as our blog. But, we are back now and have an excellent tool to help even the most basic beginners do screen shots and screen videos.

The people at Tech Smith (http://www.techsmith.com/) have several tools that can be used to capture, record, and even edit screen shots and videos. Their program Jing, however, is one that I really enjoy using. Jing has a free option that you can use without having to upgrade. There is an upgraded paid version, which if you are doing longer videos, is very useful as well.

Jing has been around for a while, but sometimes the best coaching resources are the ones we rediscover. It has a myriad of uses, each of which are outstanding in their own right.

If you wish do do a short video explaining a step in software, it is entirely possible to do so with Jing. The free version allows you 2 minutes of video time where you can also add your own audio, explaining any instructions needed. When you are done recording, your video is stored on Screen Cast with a download video which can be forwarded so others can view your video. The free version also has a cap on the MB allowed on the storage, but as far as free coaching resources go, I feel this is a must have for the beginner to the intermediate user.

Their program is very user friendly, with helpful tutorial videos that are concise and accurate.

Click here to download the free version of Jing

They have separate versions for PC and Mac, so this is a universal product.

Recently, I found it very helpful when we were having a few IT issues. I was able to do short videos of what a program was doing and send it with my support ticket. This saves the headache of having to type out everything that you are experiencing, and perhaps having a miscommunication with support staff.

If you work with people who may not be as technologically advanced as you, or in my case, people who are far more technologically advanced, this is a blood pressure saving resource. Lol, just kidding, but some of my programmers and support staff get frustrated with my lack of programming expertise. This handy tool saves tempers on both sides of the issue.

Try Jing out and let me know what you think of it. This will definitely be used with my clients as we increase our catalog of products on our own website.

If you have not downloaded the free coaching resources, look at the top left of your screen and fill out the form. You will be guided to where the download page is. Or, you can also get them at www.100coachingtips.com  We have over $1700 in free coaching tools and resources available for download.

Also, we have a webinar coming up on August 22 at 6pm PDT. This will be a live interactive webinar with a Q&A session at the end.

If you wish to contact me, please do so at steve@100coachingtips.com  I'm always happy to hear from you.

Wishing you More Clients, More Money, and More Life!

Respectfully yours,

Steve Davis

3 Free Kindle Books on Publishing Your Ebook

I hope everyone has had a great weekend. In the coaching industry today, whether you are a life coach, business coach, relationship coach, or anything in between, there is a great push to get you to write and publish your book. This weekend alone I had 14 emails from different thought leaders with book writing and publishing programs and products. There is so much information to sort through. Which program is the best? Or, which would work best for you?

I have found an excellent free coaching resource, or should I say, 3 free coaching resources. Mark Coker of Smashwords has 3 free Kindle ebooks on how to write, format, and publish your ebook. Each of these free ebooks takes on a different subject in writing your own ebook. If you have never heard of Mark Coker, you probably had heard of Smashwords. Smashwords is a platform for indie book writers and publishers to market their books. I could do an entire post on Smashwords by itself, but it seems more appropriate to also tell you about the ebooks, so you get an idea of how to optimize your Smashwords experience. You can check out Smashwords at: www.smashwords.com

The first thing you need to do is format your ebook. Mark has shown exactly how to do this in his ebook "Smashwords Style Guide - How to Format Your Ebook." Mark covers the various points on editing and formating your ebook before sending it to be published. There are tips in here that I have not heard of and I have paid for workshops that teach this subject.

Click here for this free Kindle ebook

The author has a book on how to market your ebook for free. Smashwords is an excellent way to market your ebook if you have no marketing budget. He goes over tips on using social media, blog postings, and other various means to get the word out there about your ebook. He also provides a strategy to get this done.

Click here for this free Kindle ebook

Also, Mark has a book on Ebook publishing success. "Secrets to Ebook Publishing Success" is a treasure trove of information to get your ebook published and noticed by the people who matter most. He gives 29 secrets that can make the difference in your book standing out, or just getting lost in the shuffle. His practical advice can be a life saver when you are overwhelmed by the options out there today.

Even if you have already self published, these are excellent references to go back and review.

Also, for my new readers, we have over $1700 in free coaching gifts available for you. Simply fill out the sign in form at the upper left side of this page. You will be taken to the download page right away. Or, if you would rather, you can get them at www.100coachingtips.com

Christian Mickelsen's Brand New Coaching Book Free on Kindle for a Limited Time

Usually I do not post to the Free Coaching Resources blog in the morning, but when it is something this good, I make an exception.

Christian Mickelsen, who is a life and business coach, has just released his new book. "Change the World: Make Big Money Teaching, Training, & Serving Humanity"  is now out on Kindle. It is free for a very limited time. From personal experience, I know that it will be free for no more than 2 days, and then it will be full retail price on Kindle. This is how Christian usually releases his new books on Kindle.

If you have never heard of Christian Mickelsen, he started out about 9 years ago as a coaching client, first. And then, made the decision to become a coach and help people. Also, like so many of us, he hit plenty of road blocks along the way. If you want to look at some of his websites, check out http://www.coachingbusinessrocketlauncher.com/  which has excellent information and some free reports, and http://www.coacheswithclients.com/  which also has some free coaching resources, as well as some programs that can be purchased.

I personally have read 2 of Christian's books, and purchased his program Free Sessions That Sell. Christian's products are excellent. He does a first class job in presenting his information. His books are very concise, no fluff, and get straight to the point.

If you want to shave years off of your learning curve in coaching, I would highly recommend anything by him. He has a great story telling style and tells everything, the good, bad, and anything in between.

In this book, Christian shows how to start from nothing and build a thriving practice by helping people. He also shows how to build an email list, create training programs, and sell information products. It is a blue print for success. All you have to do is follow it.

As I said earlier in the post, this will be free for 2 days at the most. After that, it will full price on Kindle. I have waited before, and missed one of Christian's free launches. Learn from my mistake.

Also, after you get Christian's new book, fill out the form at the left side of this page toward the top for over $1700 in free coaching resources and tools. Or, you can go to www.100coachingtips.com and sign in there. Once you are signed in, you can start downloading the coaching tools and resources.

2 Free Kindle books that are great for new coaches

Today's free coaching resource is a 2 for 1 special. These are free Kindle ebooks that can help you build your coaching practice. They cover two very important topics to building a coaching practice: blogging and writing Kindle ebooks.

Both of these books are quick reads. They get right to the point and skip the unnecessary fluff. Whether you are new to this, or you've been around for a while, there is plenty of good information in both of these books that can put you ahead of the competition.

The first is a book on blogging by Steve Scott. "How to Start a Successful Blog in One Hour" is a roadmap to getting your blog out there and getting traffic. The author explains where to start and how to set up a blog that gets noticed by the search engines, and gets you readers and subscribers.

I like how the author gets right to the point, and covers all of the valuable tips that separate successful blogs from everyone else's. This is some of the same information that I find myself having to cover with new coaching clients that do not have a blog yet. I will definitely be recommending this ebook to all of my clients and prospective clients.

The next free coaching resource of the day is a Kindle ebook by Anbu Rayappan. His book "Non-Fiction Writing Machine: How to Write a Book in 5 1/2 Days in 3 Simple Steps" is an excellent foundation to use when writing your first book.  If you have never tried writing a book, this can be a blueprint to build an empire of your life's work in a digital book form. When writing Kindle ebooks, you do not have to get publisher approval, worry about creative control, fret over deadlines, and the multitude of problems that occur when using a publishing service. With the Kindle platform, you write the material, upload it to Kindle, and it is listed and live for your prospects. Just like that, no middle men, no unnecessary fees, and best of all, you keep entire control of your body of work.

The author provides his information in a simple "paint by the numbers" if you will. Steps like choosing the right topic, how to structure a non-fiction book, the writing process, and a helpful checklist to make sure you don't leave anything out. The author shows a realistic plan to write your book of 10,000 words (only 40 pages) in 5 days, but only 2 hours a day of writing.

How many books could you write in a month, if you went by this plan? Don't have any published works yet? This can be a game changer for you and your coaching practice.

Also, remember that the Kindle reader is free for any electronic device. Simply go to www.kindle.amazon.com and set up a free Kindle account and you can start downloading Kindle ebooks, even if you do not own an actual Kindle device.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Why is my coaching website not getting more traffic?

This is a frequent question asked of us here at Free Coaching Resources. It's a very good question, too. And there is a surprising answer, too.

Most web designers and coaches that do their own websites use Google's free keyword tool. There's nothing wrong with that, but you are only getting a small part of the picture of what people are looking for on the web. Google's free keyword tool uses adwords as its metric to show which keywords are getting traffic. This means that it is not showing the organic searches, only the paid adwords results. On a best case scenario, if your site is at the top of adwords, you can expect 47% of the traffic that it shows. If you are not in the top spot, the drop in percentages is exponential.

There are plenty of organic searches done. When I say organic, I mean search engine listings based on content on the web. If you write an article for an article directory, and back link it to your site, this creates a search engine listing for your site.

Before you go writing an article, please read the entirety of this post. One article will not rank you on the first page of Google. It might not even rank you on the 100th page of Google in a keyword search. It takes lots of articles, which creates backlinks to start showing up. How many? That's an excellent question.

Each keyword, whether "long tail" or "short tail" has a set of results that Google has indexed for it. The indexes are fluid, in that they change when new content is produced. Google loves fresh, original content and rewards the producers of it with higher search engine rankings.

But, content and backlinks are not the only piece of this puzzle. There are other factors, like domain age (how long a website has been up), directory listings (DMOZ and Yahoo), authority backlinks ( sites with .edu or .gov that link back to a site) all factor into search engine results.

Don't let your head explode yet. Take a breath. Instead of doing all of these search metrics by hand, which takes a lot of time, and constantly changes, you can do it all in one place.

I found a remarkable tool that allows you to do all of this with out having to use multiple tools to accomplish this. Market Samurai has an excellent tool that does all of the computations for you, and then lets you download it into a csv (spreadsheet) file.

I first discovered Market Samurai about 2 months ago, and I was hooked! All of the tools I had used before that now seem obsolete. I have used it to determine which keywords are the best value keywords, and which are the easiest to get.

Market Samurai lets you set the phrase to broad ratio, and then generates a list of keywords from your root keyword. Then, it will analyze this for you in real time and have the results in minutes. They factor in adwords and organic traffic. After this, it will organize them in order or the most valuable or least valuable, according to your preference.

Just because you think a keyword is good, or perfectly relates to your website, if it's not getting any traffic, it's a worthless endeavor.  For instance, the keyword "online life coaching" sounds like an excellent keyword to try for. There's a decent price on the cost per click adwords. But, if you research further, you will see that on a broad match, there are only 75 searches on the best day. And an exact match keyword search has less than 10 searches globally per day!  There is even stiff competition for this less than favorable keyword.

Try Market Samurai For Free!

Don't be fooled by high priced Google Adword pay per click prices. This only means that websites are bidding higher to get this keyword without knowing how much someone will buy on a click through.

Another mistake people make in selecting keywords is creating a keyword they think will do well. For instance, the keyword "life coaching audios" may sound good, but it does not even index or rank in search engine traffic ratings.

Basically, to give a synopsis of what I just said: Do not try to pick a keyword you think will do well, and expect everyone to come to you.

You must find out where the traffic already is, what they are looking for, and make sure you are there and easy to find.

If you go fishing, you don't just go to water standing on the side of the road and expect to catch fish, or any fish for that matter. You must go where the fish already are. This is true with websites. Go where people are already searching.

If you do not select keywords, Google will do it for you, and you will not be happy with their choices. They will not index you for the best keywords. They will index you for the most common keywords showing up on your page.

The best feature of Market Samurai, in my opinion, is the SEO Competiton feature. Once you have keywords selected, you can then search and see who the top 10 are for each keyword in the global searches. They create a spreadsheet of this showing the domain name, domain age, pages on site, backlinks, and several other metrics used in determining these results. Best of all, they show you which of your competitors will be easier to outrank.

You do not have to have the best site on the web, but you do need a site that is better than your competitors. If you find out that a new site has a number 1 ranking and only has 15 backlinks, you can outrank them by getting 16 backlinks. There are several variables to this equation, but I hope you see where I am going. Market Samurai can show you which keywords that you can rank for, that are profitable, and you can see results for.

I consider this my favorite tool in my seo marketing and website building endeavors. They have tutorial videos that are free which show you how to use their product proficiently. Best of all they have a free 12 day trial for new users. You don't even have to use a credit card for the free trial. You can also use this for as many sites or keywords as you like. My advice is give it a try. You will be surprised at the results. I know I was.

Stop Fighting Your Weight: 10 Things You Wish You Knew

Today's free coaching resource is about weight loss. The dreaded subject. No matter what your current status is, everyone has a strong opinion about this. I had been debating for some time now about doing a blog on weight issues. Frankly, because I, myself am trying to lose weight. But, I feel it is of utmost importance in the USA and for that matter, everywhere.

In coaching, there are 3 large categories that cover most of the coaching business. They are: 1. How to make more money 2. Weight loss and 3. Finding your soulmate (relationships). They also fall into that order in the money people spend to help them with those issues.

As far as consumer money spent, weight loss actually edges the money subject to number 2. People, whether they are hiring coaches or not, are always spending money on weight loss products. Whether it is diet books, supplements, and fitness videos. Add in the gym memberships, and you can see why weight loss ranks so high in the amount of money people spend.

I won't go into the other 2 subjects today, because weight loss is significant enough to warrant its own post. But, I dare say, if you are a life coach, your niche and coaching practice falls into one of the 3 subjects.

I am a big believer in mindset retraining and reconditioning. Whether it is business or personal matters, your mindset determines the likelihood of your success. I have found over the last 4 years, that when my mindset is right about a matter I am dealing with, 90% of the battle is won. Weight loss is no exception. If your mindset is right, you can accomplish so much more in the areas you desire to change.

I found a free Kindle ebook on this subject this morning. "how to...Stop Fighting Your Weight: 10 Things You Wish You Knew" by Daniel Speraw is an excellent free coaching resource that every life coach should have.

Click here for this free Kindle ebook

I started reading some of this book this morning and I have to say, it is sound in its philosophy. This is not a lose 30 pounds overnight plan. Or, a fad diet, that guarantees unbelievable results. This ebook goes into the mindset issues around weight loss, and may give you a different perspective on it. The author gives several methods to apply to your current mindset. Again, this is not a "radical cure" or a "miracle drug." It is several principles designed to help you change your mindset about weight loss.

I have been on the same hamster wheel that so many people are on. Lose some weight, and then gain it back with some extra. However, I have spent the time to change my mindset about my own weight and how to lose the unwanted weight I have carried around for over 20 years now. I had come to these conclusions through personal study, and lifestyle changes. I have seen results in my own journey.

I have not seen anything really new or ground breaking in this book, but it would have really helped when I was trying to figure these things out on my own. I encourage all of our readers, if you have issues about your weight, get the book and read through it. It will help get you on the right road to seeing the results you desire.

Also, seeing as this is the day after July 4, when so many of us find it hard to stick to our diets, I feel that its a fitting time to broach the subject. Let me know what you think after you read this book. My coaching specialty is not weight loss, but I do enjoy discussing all subjects with fellow coaches.

I hope everyone enjoyed a safe and happy 4th of July. My thoughts and prayers to those injured in the unfortunate accident in California. It is a shame when accidents like that happen. Hopefully, the appropriate steps can be taken to prevent occurences like that in the future.

18 Free Kindle Books until July 5

Hello my fellow blog readers,

One of my favorite holidays is upon us. The birthday of our great nation, July 4. This is a great time of celebration. Food, fireworks, and family, have always been the hallmark of this holiday in our family. I wish each of you a safe and happy Fourth of July.

Sometimes I come across free coaching resources that are a limited time offer. Such is the offer today. On my Facebook timeline, I had a post from Mark Hendricks. He is offering his Ultimate Success Program, which is in Kindle ebook form for free until 11pm July 5.

I have perused a few of these ebooks, and they are good. They are written in an interview form, which may be kind of different if you have not read books in interview form before. But it is 18 volumes that teach valuable principles to succeed.

I think we all could benefit from these books, either personally or helping our clients with the information included. And, they can be a valuable resource for future reference.

The great thing about the world wide web is it is bringing together the great minds that are out there. Almost everyday I hear of someone doing a great job in their niche, some even doing 6 and 7 figure businesses. Today was no exception. If you would like to look at Mark's website, click here.  Mark is a successful coach and internet marketer, just to name a few niches he is in.

Also, as I close each post, please get your $1700 in free coaching gifts from us. Go to www.100coachingtips.com and sign in and you can begin downloading these practice transforming resources. And, thank you to the many of you who already have signed up. I saw a great increase in the number of signups these last 2 days.

And, the best news of all, we are running a once in a lifetime sale. If you have looked through the 100 Coaching Tips website, you may have noticed we have a series of 26 interviews with some of the greatest coaches on the planet. People like John Assaraf, Chris Wieder, Morgana Rae, and Melanie Benson Strick, just to name a few. We are running this sale until July 7 at 11pm CDT. There will be no extensions or exceptions. The Largest Collection of Free Coaching Resources in 1 Place

One of the biggest reasons I hear for coaches not getting enough clients, or even any clients at all, is always the same: "I can't afford it." Let me implore you right now, coaches, strike those words from your vocabulary. I'm not saying go into debt, but I am saying you need to shift your mindset.

During our Season 1 interviews, Melanie Benson Strick talks about this. I like what she said, "Stop saying I can't afford it, and start saying I'm going to find a way to make it happen." I think this was probably one of the most powerful statements made during the entire series of 26 interviews. This is mindset shifting at its best. And, I totally agree with Melanie, find a way to make it happen.

We are beginning the second half of 2013 today. Let's make sure our mindsets are geared up to find a way to make it happen. In fact, we are going to help you make it happen. I have been ending each of my posts urging you to go to www.100coachingtips.com and sign up and download the free coaching tools. Some of you have, but many of you haven't. Maybe some of you already have, or you downloaded them before this blog was created. But, some of you I know, are not downloading them for reasons that you justify through not wanting to accept help. I don't quite understand this. I would have loved it if someone came to me when I was first starting out and offered free coaching tools.

The tools we are offering are a diverse blend of coaching resources that can transform your coaching business from an expensive hobby to a thriving business that gets you the lifestyle you deserve.

Several of our speakers from Season 1 were kind enough to supply coaching resources that will help you get unstuck and moving forward again.

We have:

An audio from Chris Widener "The Best Test"

Audios and pdf handout from Bart Baggett "The 3 Keys to Life Transformation & Manifestation"

A pdf from Rhonda Hess "The 5 Secrets to a Highly Profitable Coaching Niche"

An audio and pdf from Michelle Schubnel "7 Group Coaching Models"

A 6 audio CD program from Eric Lofholm "The Art of Time Management"

A pdf workbook from Carey Peters "Niche Starter Kit"

An audio from Pat Mussieux "7 Steps to Growing Your Own Business"

A pdf copy of Sam Carpenter's book "Work the System"

Once you have these tools and start using them, is there any reason why you cannot grow your coaching business exponentially? Even better, we will soon be adding to these free coaching resources.

If your coaching practice is not where you want it, go to www.100coachingtips.com and sign up in the optin form and you will have access to the coaching tools and resources listed above. As an added bonus, you will also get our free report "Top 3 Mistakes Struggling Coaches Are Making Everyday Which Stalls Their Career & Sends Hot Prospects Running Away"
Also, we will have a huge announcement this week that will go out to everyone on our list. You will want to hear this announcement.

If you have any questions or comments, contact me at info@100coachingtips.com

We have a short week in the US due to the July 4th holiday. Special thanks to our troops.

Have a safe and happy 4th of July!

Respectfully yours,

Steve Davis
